CHRISTMAS IN MAY! A RESCHEDULING OF DECEMBER CLASSES AT SCRAPBOOKS FOREVER IN BRANSON, MISSOURI

Hello my blogging friends!

Today I am excited to share a bit of news with everyone who signed up for my classes in December that had to be postponed TWICE due to the wintery weather.

Those classes for Scrapbooks Forever in Branson, Missouri have been rescheduled in what will hopefully NOT be snowy weather!  However, if you remember, we DID get some snow here in early May last year!  Please, Mother Nature ... cooperate with us this time!

~ The Lyrics Book Class ~

This technique rich class will taught on Friday, May 2nd from 12 - 4.  At the moment, this class is full but you can always call Scrapbooks Forever at (417) 335-7904 and put your name on a waiting list.  I so love these papers and can't wait to share little tips and tricks for getting the most out of every sheet of 12 x 12 paper to create wonderful little books like this.

~ The Vintage Christmas Wreath Class ~

 I adore Christmas and I adore vintage pieces.  So, this class is sure to be a favorite of mine! The Vintage Christmas Wreath Class is an all day workshop.  We will explore floral techniques for creating a fuller more beautiful basic wreath. Almost every vintage ornament on this wreath is hand made using a combination of several techniques, Distress Inks, mixed media products, Kaisercraft's beautiful Christmas papers, Stickles, and other items reminiscent of vintage Christmas pieces. At the end of the class, you will have created a gorgeous vintage Christmas wreath that is sure to become a family favorite as you proudly display your labor of love in your home each Christmas.  This is a lighted wreath that measures approximately 22" across.

This class will be taught on Saturday, May 3rd from 9 - 5, with a short break for lunch.

A COUPLE OF CLASS OPENINGS THIS WEEKEND!!

Happy Tuesday everyone!  We've had some cold and snowy weather here of late.

I was to have taught two workshops last weekend for Scrapbooks Forever in Branson but Mother Nature had other ideas!  

We ended up postponing the classes until THIS weekend due to icing and snow.

Thankfully, the weather, while still being cold is supposed to be much better this weekend.  But, because we had to make the change, there are a few openings for the classes this weekend.  So, if you're in the Branson, Missouri area and feel like being creative this weekend, give Shirley at call at

Every page has a pocket and several techniques that you will use on all sort of your art projects.

Saturday, December 14th, from 9 - 5, is one of my favorite workshops EVER!

From start to finish, you will completely create a beautiful vintage Christmas wreath.  Learn floral techniques to take a simple plain wreath and inexpensively create a full gorgeous basic lighted wreath that finished out to be approximately 22 inches across.  With the exception of the one blown glass Santa head ornament and the golden bells, you will create all of the other vintage ornaments for you wreath.  You will learn all sorts of fun techniques to recreate that glorious vintage style.  Create a Christmas heirloom that your family will enjoy for years to come! 

 

I have made wreaths similar to this with just a few friends before and their families say that they are one of their favorite Christmas decorations.

HELLO EVERYONE!

THIS PAST WEEKEND, I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO TEACH AGAIN AT ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES IN THE WHOLE WORLD, 

SCRAPBOOKS FOREVER IN BRANSON, MISSOURI.

IT'S SUCH A WONDERFUL STORE, FULL OF BEAUTIFUL PAPERS AND EMBELLISHMENTS BUT THE BEST PART....SHIRLEY (the store owner - a wonderful lady and talented artist) CARRIES A HUGE ASSORTMENT OF STAMPS, DIE CUTS, PUNCHES AND ART SUPPLIES.  

SCRAPBOOK STORE...YES, AND A WHOLE LOT MORE!

THIS IS THE CLASS SAMPLE I MADE FOR OUR STUDY IN DIMENSION AND TEXTURE: A 5X7 CANVAS. 

AND THESE ARE THE LOVELY LADIES WHO CAME TO CLASS. THEY ARE SOME OF THE SWEETEST LADIES IN ALL OF THE WORLD! 

(SOME OF THEM GOT OUT OF THE DOOR BEFORE I COULD INCLUDE THEM IN THE PHOTOS.)

 

SOME WERE APPREHENSIVE ABOUT TRYING SOMETHING OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONE BUT WE JUMPED RIGHT IN AND I HAVE TO SAY, I AM SOOOO PROUD OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM!  I TOLD THEM THAT IF THEY WANTED TO DUPLICATE MY SAMPLE, THAT WAS JUST FINE BUT I ENCOURAGED THEM TO STEP OUTSIDE OF THAT BOX AND JUST PLAY ...

 NOT ONE OF THE LADIES DUPLICATED THE CLASS SAMPLE THAT I MADE!  THAT THRILLED ME BEYOND WORDS!  THEY TOOK ALL OF THE ITEMS IN THE KIT PLUS SOME ADDITIONAL "STUFF" I HAD AVAILABLE TO THEM AND EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM CREATED LITTLE WORKS OF ART THAT THEY WERE SO PROUD OF!

FOR ME, TO HAVE THE LADIES, LAUGHING, SHARING WITH EACH OTHER AND SMILING AS THEY CREATE IS JUST THE BEST!  MORE LIKE A GIRL PARTY RATHER THAN A CLASS!  WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!

WORKING WITH MULTI MEDIUM, GESSO AND SPRAYS WAS SOMETHING VERY NEW FOR MOST OF THESE TALENTED LADIES WHO SEE THEMSELVES MORE AS SCRAP BOOKERS AND CARD MAKERS.  HOPEFULLY I HAVE SHOWN THEM THAT THEIR ART CAN CROSSOVER AND THAT THEIR CREATIVITY IS AS ENDLESS AS THEY ALLOW THEIR IMAGINATION TO TAKE THEM.

HERE ARE THE CANVASES THAT I WAS ABLE TO PHOTOGRAPH.  THESE PICTURES DON'T DO JUSTICE TO THE DIMENSION, TEXTURE, DESIGN AND GORGEOUS COLORS OF THEIR WORK.

FROM PAINT TO COLOR WASH TO DYLUSIONS INK SPRAYS, WE LEARNED ABOUT EACH AND PLAYED WITH THEM ALL!  WE LEARNED ABOUT TEXTURE, DIMENSION, COLOR AND NOT BEING AFRAID TO EXPERIMENT AND TRY NEW THINGS.  I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH HOW PROUD I AM OF EACH OF THESE LADIES!  

ALL FIRST ATTEMPTS AND ALL BEAUTIFUL ART!

CLASSES AT SCRAPBOOKS FOREVER IN BRANSON

I AM SO EXCITED TO BE TEACHING ANOTHER WEEKEND OF CLASSES AT SCRAPBOOKS FOREVER IN BRANSON, MISSOURI ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 9TH AND SATURDAY, AUGUST 10TH FROM NOON TO 5PM.

AS MY GRANDSON, COOPER SAYS ... WE WILL BE "MAKING ART" WITH ALL SORTS OF DIMENSIONAL AND FUN THINGS!  ACTUALLY, WE WILL BE MAKING A DIMENSIONAL CANVAS IN CLASS.  BUT ONCE YOU LEARN THE TECHNIQUES, YOU CAN USE THEM TO MAKE ALL SORTS OF THINGS.

  I HAVE A CLASS SAMPLE AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING AT SCRAPBOOKS FOREVER AND EVERYTHING NEEDED TO RECREATE THE  SAMPLE WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE CLASS KIT.

I WILL HAVE OTHER SAMPLES THAT I HAVE MADE USING THIS BASIC TECHNIQUE BUT DIFFERENT MEDIUMS TO FINISH THEM AT CLASS.  THIS WAY, STUDENTS CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN USING SPRAYS OR PAINTS, ETC. ON A FINISHED PIECE.

THERE WILL BE ALL SORTS OF MEDIUMS TO WORK WITH IN CLASS; MULTI MEDIUM, A VARIETY OF COLOR SPRAYS, PAINTS, GESSO, ETC.  AND FOR THOSE LADIES WHO ARE WORRIED ABOUT THEIR NAILS, I WILL EVEN PROVIDE PROTECTIVE GLOVES!

AND ... HONESTLY, I HOPE THAT EVERYONE WILL WANT TO TAKE THE TECHNIQUES I WILL TEACH THEM, SEE ALL OF THE DIFFERENT PRODUCTS AND COLORS AVAILABLE TO THEM AND BE SO EXCITED TO EXPERIMENT AND PLAY, THAT THEY WILL WANT TO MAKE THEIR OWN UNIQUE ART.

ARE GREAT THINGS TO INCLUDE. COLOR DOESN'T MATTER!  JUST BRING IT!  I'LL BE BRINGING SOME EXTRA STUFF ALONG AS WELL.  SHIRLEY WILL ALSO HAVE SOME ITEMS FOR SALE PRIOR TO CLASS THAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO INCLUDE ON YOUR CANVAS OR ON FUTURE PROJECTS.

SHABBY CHIC WORKSHOPPE AT SCRAPBOOKS FOREVER

Hi everyone!!!  I am soooo excited about this news and a sneak peek!

I am going to be part of a WEEKEND WORKSHOPPE sponsored by 

Scrapbooks Forever in Branson, Missouri  

the weekend of May 3rd and 4th.  I cannot wait!!

Scrapbooks Forever is a fantastic store in the southwest Missouri area.  Shirley Heard, the owner of Scrapbooks Forever is such a sweetheart and a very talented artist.  I always enjoy going into her store.  Friendly faces, ladies who know their products and how to use them.  And they are always ready and willing to give you a quick demo.  That is so important to all of us who are "visual learners"!  Am I right or what? 

Her store also carries a full line of Tim Holtz....if you're a Tim Holtz junkie like me...that is important!  They have a lot of mixed media supplies, THE BEST stamp selection in the area and tons of embellishments and gorgeous papers.  If you've not made a trip to Scrapbooks Forever, you need to!  If you have, then you know what I'm talking about.

Shirley will be teaching a class on Friday from 1 to 4 that she has titled "A Coloring Workshop".  This is a technique class focusing on how to achieve shading and color blending using various papers, products and techniques to give you your best results.

Then Saturday, I will be teaching a home decor wall hanging in a shabby chic style.  This class from 10 - 4 will be a technique rich class focusing on the many uses of Distress Inks, working with Embossing paste and stencils and introducing a brand new link of stamps to Scrapbooks Forever....B Line Design.  These stamps are simply gorgeous vintage/victorian style stamps.  You will fall in love with them!  There will be a break for lunch.
