Happy Thursday everybody! The sun is shining. The birds are singing. The thermometer is reading 66 degrees (when it normally should be in the low 50s) and I just got back from having a picnic lunch with my twin grandsons at the park and then finishing almost a five mile walk!
Life is good!
I wanted to share a fun little project that I made yesterday afternoon in about an hour and a half. I wish I could claim to have been the clever one to have thought of this but I'm not! A friend of mine and someone who truly is a creative genius...especially in assemblages...

One of the things that I love so much about Jim is his genuineness. Is that a word? If not....here's another way to describe him...a very giving, sweet and REAL individual! He's so unaffected by his growing celebrity and he is Crr-A-Z-Y creative and talented! He does Ustream videos and posts free tutorials a lot. And they aren't little simple things, they are really fun, sometimes very detailed pieces. He also has an his ETSY store with some neat projects, too.
Okay...enough about Jim. I don't want to give him the "big head". haha
Here is the tag box that I made. It measures 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 and easily fits the regular #8 manila tags. This is inexpensive to make. If you've got some medium weight chipboard, a couple of sheets of cardstock, some double sided tape, maybe some tissue tape and some Ideaology pieces, you're good to go! My background is a Bo Bonny paper that is all vintage suitcases. I loved the colors and the images of the stacked suitcases, even though it's hard for you to see them. Then I distressed all of the outside seams with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Next I added the 7 Gypsies polka dot Postale Paper Tape around the top of the box. Isn't it cute? Then I hot glued the Tim Holtz Foundation Feet onto the bottom of the box.
The interior paper is also some I've had. After fitting the lining paper inside of the finished box, I lightly washed all of the seams with black acrylic paint.
The "TAGS" are from Tim Holtz' Destinations Salvage Stickers.
I love the vintage license plate look and thought it appropriate for my "TAGS" tags! I adhered the already adhesive backed license salvage stickers to medium weight chipboard, cut them out, inked the edges with a black cats eye ink pad and then glued an antique brass Making Memories Garment Pins to the back sides of each letter. Then I attached them to a piece of medium weight chipboard that was covered with a scrap of cardstock. I had rounded off the corners, inked the edges with the black cats eye ink pad and poked four holes evenly into the chipboard. Next I added a Tim Holtz Washer, a Long Fastener and looped the Garment Pin over the Long Fastener. Then I slipped the fastener through the hole and put them in place. Next I took my Tim Holtz Hammer and pounded the top of the brads to make them even more vintage looking. Then I hot glued the chipboard onto the front of my box. Finally, I added the hinge clip just for more decoration.
That's it! Fun, sturdy, useful and easy to make! I am listing all of the products that I used that are available at Simon Says Stamp below. If you've got a free afternoon, this might be a fun project for you to do on your own or get with a group of friends and have a crafting afternoon! That is what I am going to do with this next week!
