Happy Thursday everyone!
I hope that you are all having a good week and finding some time to create and play.
Isn't it sad that as we grow up, we sort of forget how to PLAY?
I wanted to share a couple more of the pages from my art journal that I started blogging about HERE. These are the next two pages in that journal.
All of the pages very LOOSELY follow Shannon Green's Journaling in 5s idea. By very loosely, I mean using the different sessions as a "prompt" for creating each layer of the journal pages. However, my friends and I did not strictly follow the time restraints and if we felt like adding something that was not specific to that layer, we did it anyway. But, it was a good way to get started on journal backgrounds.
My pages combine a gelli print first layer and then I added images from calendars, magazines, napkins and books. I also added pieces of different washi tapes, ephemera, stamped images, tissue paper, fibers and fabric scraps. I added color or blended colors together using Neocolor water color crayons and a water brush. Some extra doodling was done using a black permanent ink pen.
I found these journal pages so relaxing and fun to do. It's sort of like playing with big girl paper dolls!
Enjoy the rest of your week and weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
These are both INCREDIBLY FUN to see Candy. My favorite is the first one - so like the vintage feel of it and her outfit is so quirky! What fun this must have been.... I would have enjoyed watching you create them - for sure. Makes me want to go and just start gluing!!! Thanks bunches for the inspiration. j.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! These are UBER COOL!!! Bold images and bold color, and awesome layers! I'd love to sit and do a page like these...with you! I need to go through some new magazines and find some girls!!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLoving the colors!! Your backgrounds are phenomenal. Isn't it grand to just play. I agree. We don't do this enough. I adore the butterfly wings. Stunning! Love you sentiments on both pages (especially the Karen Kingsbury quote ... awesome). I see you in these pages dear Candy. Wonderful!!! -- Mary Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteI did love your first pages but I absolutely LOVE these! You pack so much into your pages and yet they look so orderly and organised and beautiful and the focal images stand out wonderfully well. I love the touches of washi tape here and there and the butterflies are stunning on both ladies. Brilliant work Candy... Anne xxx

ReplyDeleteI'm really loving all of your innovations here! I like how your work takes something ordinary - like a magazine picture- and bumps it up into the, "HOLY COW THAT IS AMAZING" range! Really- you never seem to run out of interesting ways to see things and you also have the skills to bring your visions to life. Always a pleasure, my friend, to see what's cooking in that wonderfully clever mind of yours!

ReplyDeleteGosh, Candy, I just really love the look and feel of these pages. The layers seem to float and suspend, especially in the first one. I have been looking at it for several minutes, it's so intriguing. Well done, my talented friend.
