MORE MAGAZINE PEOPLE ART JOURNALING PAGES ...

Hi blogging buddies!

I hope your week has been a good one so far!  It's almost the weekend!

I would like to share two more of my magazine people art journaling pages with you.

Magazine people mixed media art journal pages

I love this gal with her sassy pose.  She's definitely following her heart as she falls in love with Tim Holtz' cute little french gentleman from his French Industrial papers from a couple of CHA releases ago.

The basic backgrounds for these pages are gelli prints that were done on plain copy paper.  I then glued them to the 9x12 pages in my spiral bound art journal.  Using DecoArt's Media line products, I blended the gelli prints to make them appear as though they were originally put on the art journal pages.  There is lots of stenciling, acrylic paints added, tissue tape, fabric scraps, sentiments and pen work added to the pages in layers.

And with the lazy days of summer winding down, I love how these bright and happy flowers.  They are created from napkins.  I removed all of the ply backings and using DecoArt's Matte Medium, I glued the flowers to the page and then sealed them with the matte medium.  After they had dried, I added the vines and leaves as well as the black pen work detail.

These pages are loosely based on Shannon Green's Journaling By 5s technique.  And although I don't follow the time restraints, it is a good way to get started if you're stuck on how to build an art journal page.

I recently shared another art journal page from my book that was featured on DecoArt's Media Mixed Media Blog.  If you missed my "Choose Happy" post, HERE is the link.  There is a complete pictorial tutorial for all the steps used in creating that page.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!  Take time to play!  It's food for your creative soul!

  2. Oh, Candy!! WOWIE!! I love both of these pages!! I do love the haughty stance of the woman in your top image--It's almost like she's daring someone to fall in love with her!! I'm in love!! :) :) How can I not be! :) And that second page with those happy blooms dancing around that young lady--sooo fun and bright and Happy!! Now, you said you did your gelli prints on plain copy paper? Are you using a thicker copy paper? Did you have any problems with your inks/paints seeping through the copy paper? Just love these AJ pages, Candy!! They're all so full of life!! XOXO-Shari
